Well if like most Liverpool fans you read the transfer rumours in express this could be the case come January.

Brendan Rodgers has been a fan of the midfielder for a while now and the scouting team has been watching him extensively over the past year, impressing on many occasions.

The express are quoting a figure believed to be in the £12m mark, but we all know Liverpool won’t pay that much and will haggle the price down or pay a smaller fee with player appearance bonus' included in the deal.

If Liverpool land Hughes in January it will come as a blow to rivals, Wenger (Arsenal) and Moyes (Manchester United), who have both watched Hughes' development with interest.

Derby boss Steve McClaren recently admitted that he was prepared to let the talented youngster leave as long as his team received the fee they were asking.

So far this season Hughes has scored 4 times in all competition and assisted twice.
