Inter Milan offer Rafael Benitez an escape route away from Liverpool FC
Rafa Benitez 300[LNB]INTER will step up their efforts to make Rafa Benitez their new manager as the Spaniard looks set to part company with Liverpool.[LNB]The Reds have started negotiations with Benitez over a severance package and believe a compromise deal will be reached.[LNB]Benitez's agent Manuel Garcia Quilon last night refused to confirm the 50-year-old, who is only 15 months into a five-year contract, had been made an offer to walk away from the club.[LNB]'We don't know anything more than what's being said,' he insisted.[LNB] 'We're not saying anything.'[LNB]Managing director Christian Purslow also declined to comment and would only say he was 'locked down in a meeting'.[LNB]However, Benitez's six-year Anfield tenure looks certain to come to an end and he will have the chance to make an instant return to football.[LNB]Champions League winners Inter want Benitez to take over from Jose Mourinho, who has left the club for Real Madrid.[LNB]President Massimo Moratti is a big admirer of the 50-year-old and Benitez has climbed to the top of his wish list after Fabio Capello reaffirmed his commitment to England.[LNB]Moratti said: 'I have always thought Benitez is a good coach, but he is linked with Liverpool.'
