Liverpool have handed teenage Argentine defender Emiliano Insua a new three-year contract.
The 19-year-old South American initially joined the Reds in November 2006 on loan from Boca Juniors before sealing a permanent move six months later.
Insua has made five first-team appearances for Rafael Benitez's side and will now remain at Anfield until at least June 2011.
He was a key part of Liverpool's second-string side that won the FA Premier Reserve League (North) title at a canter last season.
The teenager has been capped at various levels by his country and was part of the Argentina side that won the Under-20 World Cup in Canada last year.
Benitez has previously described the diminutive full-back as: "a good, young player with a lot of potential."
