I won’t change my style for Liverpool FC’s new tactics - Daniel Agger

Daniel Agger 300[LNB]DANIEL AGGER today admitted he will not sacrifice his principles in a bid to reclaim his place in Liverpool's starting line-up.[LNB]The Denmark international started the season as an emergency left-back but has been relegated to the bench for the last two Premier League games since the arrival of Paul Konchesky.[LNB]He revealed before last week's Europa League meeting with Steaua Bucharest that he was 'angry' at being left out of the starting line-up for the 0-0 draw against Birmingham City.[LNB]So far Hodgson has favoured playing Martin Skrtel - whose style is more robust than the elegant Agger - alongside Jamie Carragher and he is a manager who likes no-nonsense defenders.[LNB] But though Agger is not on a collision course with Hodgson over the matter, he has made it clear he will not forsake his beliefs on how he feels the game should be played.[LNB]'We have changed our style of play since (Rafa) Benitez where we tried to play the ball out of defence - we don't do that at all any more,' said Agger.[LNB]'The gaffer has his philosophy that football is played further up the field and that means that the back line has to play differently. It is not my style. It is not the kind of footballer I am.[LNB]'I prefer to keep the ball on the ground. And I will continue to play that way. Only time will tell if the manager will use me or not.
