Tranmere chief executive Mick Horton has paid tribute to veteran player-coach John Achterberg following his move to Liverpool as goalkeeping coach. The 37-year-old Dutchman, who spent 11 years at Prenton Park and made over 300 appearances for Rovers, will work with the reserve and youth team goalkeepers at Anfield. Horton said: "John has been a great servant to the Club both as a player and a coach over the last 11 years. "We wish John all the very best in the future for his new role and he is welcome back at Prenton Park any time."
