Home is where the heartbreak is for Liverpool striker Kuyt

Dirk Kuyt has blamed Liverpool's record at Anfield this season for their failure to win the Barclays Premier League title. Liverpool are unbeaten in 18 home games, but their title challenge was undermined by the number of draws at Anfield. Rafa Benitez's team were undone by seven draws at home, despite remaining undefeated against their top-four rivals. Stoke, Fulham, West Ham, Everton, Hull, Manchester City and Arsenal all emerged from Anfield with a point to leave Liverpool trailing behind Manchester United in the title race. And Holland international Kuyt said. 'We haven't lost a game at home but unfortunately we drew too many at Anfield. We can be happy with our performances but we want to win trophies, and hopefully we can do that next season and finally win the title. 'I have really enjoyed the season on a personal level and I'm glad I could be important for the team and score goals and give assists. 'Our performances over the last couple of months have been really good, and now we have to take our good form into next season.   'We tried, we did everything we could and I think we showed the supporters we can do something good next year.   'If we could have made the gap closer it would have been interesting going into the final game, but they won all of their games as well.   'We tried to put them under pressure, which I think we did, but at the end of the day they won their games, so to be fair they have played consistently and they deserve it.' But Kuyt is confident Liverpool will bounce back and claim their first title since 1990 and their first of the Premier League era.   'At the end of the day you get what you deserve and it just wasn't good enough. I think we have shown we can challenge next season and push harder for the title,' he told the Reds' official website. 'We have more experience now as a team. We pushed hard and next season we will push even harder.   'Liverpool is a club that always wants to fight for trophies and that's what we wanted. Hopefully this experience will help us next year.'
