Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has praised his side after the 2-0 home win over Chelsea. Two goals from Fernando Torres gave the Reds victory and the manager was delighted. "It was a very, very good first half performance," he said. "Second half all credit to Chelsea, I thought they played well and asked a lot of questions of us, but we stayed firm. Thanks to Pepe Reina and the crossbar we kept our clean sheet and I thought we had a couple of chances ourselves. "I'm very happy with the result, very happy with the way the team responded and in particular to how they responded when we lost two of our back players before the start of the game. "The intensity has been there for quite a lot of the games, but results decide what games are. People don't look at what happens on the field, they look at the result then make their judgements. "We've actually been reasonably intense in quite a few of our games but have been a little bit unlucky with goals conceded and errors made which have been punished and this is part of football but in actual fact there hasn't been a great change in our play. "All I would say is that we are getting a bit stronger and more confident in what we're doing. The players are coming to terms more and more with the way we'd like the team to play and the shape of the team that we'd like to see. This is just a question of working day after day, month after month. It's not going to come the minute you step through the door."
