Tom Hicks and George Gillett's legal challenge to the sale of Liverpool Football Club will be heard in the High Courts on Tuesday, it has been confirmed. The American owners are challenging chairman Martin Broughton's authority to sell the club without their permission. Christian Purslow and Ian Ayre voted with Broughton in favour of the £300m sale to NESV, but Hicks claims they were sacked from the board. The matter is now expected to be resolved ahead of the Friday deadline that RBS have given the club to repay their debts.
