iverpool principal owner John Henry's recuperation from a minor yachting accident will have been boosted by victory in the Merseyside derby.[LNB] The American, the lead figure in the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) who bought the Reds almost 12 months ago, was injured aboard his private vessel yesterday.[LNB]But having been admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital he was discharged overnight and was believed to have been planning to watch the derby match from his home in Boston.[LNB]Henry is understood to have suffered no lasting effects from the incident and his health is fine.[LNB]Henry's wife Linda Pizzuti wrote on Twitter: "Happy John is home! He slipped down stairs, injuring his neck.[LNB]"Kept at hospital as a precautionary measure, but was home for the derby."[LNB]Last night WBZ NewsRadio 1030 said that the tycoon, who also owns the Boston Red Sox baseball team, had left his yacht in a neck brace with reports suggesting the 52-year-old was treated by paramedics at the scene before being put on a stretcher and transported to hospital by ambulance.[LNB]It has been an incident-packed few days for Henry as, aside from the accident and the derby, the Red Sox also parted company with double World Series-winning manager Terry Francona yesterday.[LNB]Henry became involved in Major League Baseball for the first time in 1991, purchasing a small ownership share in the New York Yankees.[LNB]The Illinois-born businessman bought the Florida Marlins for a reported 158million US dollars in 1999, selling the club three years later.[LNB]He then headed up the establishment of New England Sports Ventures (NESV), which purchased the Boston Red Sox for 700million US dollars later the same year.[LNB]World Series triumphs followed in 2004 and 2007 before Henry expanded his portfolio to include a 50% stake in the Roush Fenway Racing NASCAR team.[LNB]He made his move into English football last October, when Liverpool accepted a bid - believed to be £300million - from NESV, which has since been rebranded to FSG.[LNB]Henry's first big decision after taking over at Anfield came in January when he replaced Roy Hodgson, whose six-month reign had been nothing short of dismal, with former Reds boss and Liverpool icon Kenny Dalglish.[LNB]FSG also sanctioned the sale of star striker Fernando Torres to Chelsea for £50million and used most of that money to buy club-record signing Andy Carroll - who scored against Everton at Goodison Park today - and Luis Suarez.[LNB]The Americans also provided a substantial transfer kitty in the summer which allowed Dalglish to spend significant money on Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson, Jose Enrique, Charlie Adam and Sebastian Coates.
