Jordan Henderson will not use fatigue as an excuse when he starts the Barclays Premier League season with new club Liverpool, insisting he is young enough to cope with the demands of regular football.
The former Sunderland midfielder signed for Liverpool last week after starring for Steve Bruce's side during the past year, but he will feature heavily in the England team at the European Under-21 Championships before resting ahead of the new campaign.
"I know there are managers and players worried about burnout and playing too much, but I feel fine after the season," he told liverpoolfc.tv "Yes I've played a lot, but I've still got lots to give, still got energy. We are young and want to play football and can achieve something special for our country."
Henderson, who made his senior England bow against France last November, is looking to use the upcoming tournament in Denmark as a springboard back into Fabio Capello's squad.
"At U21 level, we feel there is a process whereby you can get passed through the ranks. If you do well, Fabio Capello will notice - or Stuart Pearce will tell him.
"He goes to a lot of the games to watch us and that is important to all the players who play in the U21s," he said.
