Liverpool may have shown interest in Carlos Tevez but Rafael Benitezwould have to be motivated by spite to blow his entire summer transferbudget on the striker. The manager has around £20 million to spend and selling off Ryan Babel,Andrea Dossena and Andriy Voronin won't add too much to that. Unless Liverpool can get Tevez on a similar loan deal to the one whichhas kept him at Old Trafford these past two seasons, Benitez would haveto gamble everything on getting another striker who wouldn't be firstchoice. Let's be team-mates as well as friends: Carlos Tevez with Liverpool's Javier Mascherano The Argentine would fit in nicely in Steven Gerrard's role but the Liverpool captain has done pretty well there himself. Tevez has made it quite clear he wants to start regularly too, sounless Benitez expects Gerrard or Fernando Torres to have even moreinjury problems next season the only reason to go for him would be toget one over United.
