HATCHET MAN: Gerrard be warned: Winning a few games with Liverpool doesn't entitle you to start orde

Steven Gerrard may think that everything is rosy at the moment, but he should be careful about crowing too loudly. Fresh from setting himself up with Rafael Benitez by going back on much of what he has said in public and private about the Liverpool manager in the last couple of years, the midfielder has turned the screw on Fabio Capello. But while his claims that the Spaniard's squad rotation and cold management style are genius may make him look silly when he changes his mind again in less successful times, putting pressure on the England coach to play him in his favourite position could backfire more painfully. Capello seems to like making very public shows of who is boss. Just look at the ridiculous row he has got himself into over Ledley King (and apparently we haven't heard the last of that crock of contention). So his reaction to Gerrard saying he would 'love nothing better' to play in the withdrawn striker role 'but it isn't down to me, is it?' will be interesting. The Liverpool captain was reluctant to be drawn on the subject but allowed himself to be nonetheless and his reaction sounds a little like the 'moaning' about playing out of position for his club that he now regrets. Gerrard is a talented player but should Capello be moving players as good as Wayne Rooney out of position to keep him happy? Absolutely not. If Gerrard wants to wait his turn and compete for that position fine, otherwise he should keep quiet and get on with whatever role he is given.
