Good news for England boss Capello - Liverpool defender Johnson is back!
Back to fitness: Liverpool defender Glen Johnson England boss Fabio Capello has finally received some good news after Glen Johnson revealed he is close to making a return for Liverpool. Johnson has been sidelined with an injury to his knee for two months but is now weeks away from making a comeback. His return comes at a time when Capello has had to deal with the off-field revelations about John Terry and an ankle injury to Ashley Cole which threatens to rule the left-back out of this summer's World Cup. Johnson, who has made 20 appearances for England, is hoping to join his Liverpool team-mates for full training in a fortnight's time. 'I'm definitely over the worst of it now and I'm about two away from training, so I'm getting there,' he said. Boost for England: Johnson gives Capello options 'It's been like groundhog day - I've been doing the same things, working in the gym and doing stability work. 'Every day has been the same for the last two weeks, but now I've started to run, things can change.' Johnson tore the medial ligament to his right knee during a a challenge with Gabriel Agbonlahor in the clash against Aston Villa on December 29. And the 25-year-old admits it has been a frustrating time for him watching from the stands. Johnson said: 'I couldn't go to the games at first because I was on crutches, but now I can go and cheer the boys on. 'I'm probably the worst fan ever, though, because I just want to be out there. 'I can feel myself jolting and trying to help, but you've just got to sit and watch, which is annoying.' 'It's been frustrating. The worst thing for a footballer is being injured, but now I'm looking forward.'
