Gerrard welcomes responsibility

Steven Gerrard is proud to be captaining England. The Liverpool skipper has been handed the job of captaining England at the 2010 World Cup after Rio Ferdinand's withdrawal. The responsibility that comes with the job can inspire him rather than be a burden insists Gerrard. "How do I stop it becoming a burden? By enjoying it. The people around me won't allow it to be a burden," said England's number 4. "I've got to use it as a motivation rather than a burden. It gives me extra drive. I want to be a successful captain. "To be the leader of the pack is an unbelievable feeling, a great honour. Hopefully that will help my performances because we're all desperate to do well. "I don't want to be going home early. I want to lead the boys as far as I can."
