Gerrard to miss Gunners clash

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will miss the game against Arsenal after being ruled out for at least another week. Gerrard aggravated an adductor muscle injury in training ahead of the midweek UEFA Champions League clash with Chelsea. The midfielder had been rested in anticipation of the quarter-final, second leg after being left on the bench for last weekend's Premier League win over Blackburn Rovers. However, the England international felt the problem worsen in training and he was forced to watch the 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge from the stands. Further tests on the strain have shown that Gerrard could be sidelined for another 10 days, ruling him out of next Tuesday's crunch encounter with Arsenal. Gerrard is also facing a fight to be fit for the trip to tackle Hull City in a week's time as he continues to receive treatment on the injury. A club spokesman said: "In the training session before the Champions League game at Chelsea, Steven Gerrard unfortunately aggravated a small strain he had previously suffered in his adductor muscle. "A scan has since confirmed our medical team's initial diagnosis and the player is expected to be out for between seven and 10 days. "In the meantime, Steven will continue to receive intensive treatment on the injury at Melwood."
