Gerrard return lifts Reds

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will return to the side against Fulham at Anfield on Wednesday after serving a three-match ban. That is a major boost for the club following the away win at Wolves on Saturday - Kenny Dalglish's first victory since becoming caretaker manager. Dalglish may be tempted to freshen things up and give a run-out to Joe Cole, who was an unused substitute at the weekend, while Milan Jovanovic could also return to the squad after missing the match at Molineux because of illness. Glen Johnson is expected to retain his spot at left-back after being switched from the right of defence, and Dalglish believes the former Portsmouth man deserves to be applauded for his displays of late. Dalglish said: "Glen Johnson has been fantastic in the left-back position in the past three games. I don't recall anyone going past him. "For me, he's doing us a favour. It's not really his chosen position but he hasn't said a word against it, it's been no problem and he's just gone out and played. That's great and I think it just reflects his commitment and his attitude. The fact he is playing there and doing so well is a great credit to him."
