Steven Gerrard has been promoted to England vice-captain. Gerrard has been promoted to vice-captain behind Rio Ferdinand after England boss Fabio Capello stripped shagger John Terry of the captaincy following the week's sordid revelations about his private life. "When I chose John Terry as captain, I also selected a vice-captain [Ferdinand] and also named a third choice [Gerrard]. There is no reason to change this decision," said Capello.
