Liverpool could be boosted by the quicker than expected return from injury of captain Steven Gerrard against Wolves on Tuesday.

The England midfielder was expected to be sidelined for two weeks after picking up a hamstring problem during the Reds' FA Cup third round replay defeat to Reading on January 13.

However, after returning to full training over the weekend, manager Rafael Benitez has confirmed that his talismanic skipper could be part of the squad that travels to Molineux.

"He was training on Saturday and on Sunday and Monday was the same," Benitez told the club's official website.

"Normally he's someone who, if available, can play. We'll decide on Tuesday but I think he can be available."

The Reds will definitely be without Fernando Torres (knee), midfielder Yossi Benayoun (rib) and Glen Johnson (knee) for the trip to the Midlands.
