Steven Gerrard claims he would swap any medal to win the Premier League with Liverpool.[LNB] The Kop skipper also played down talk of him being the best player of the world, although he insists it must mean the Reds are doing something right.[LNB]Gerrard has inspired Liverpool to one of the greatest spells in their history with the demolitions of Real Madrid and Manchester United, plus boss Rafa Benitez signing a new five-year-contract.[LNB]The plaudits for the midfield maestro's performance this season has not been lost on legends Zinedine Zidane and Johan Cruyff but Reds captain, who is a front runner for PFA Player of the Year award, knows it is not him alone who can take the credit.[LNB]"There are a lot of people at Liverpool, players and staff, who deserve credit for taking us to a point where we now have someone like Johann Cruyff saying we're feared by the rest of Europe," Gerrard told the News of the World. [LNB]"People have been saying a lot of nice things about us and that all comes from performances. [LNB]Flattered"As for being described as the best player in the world? It's really flattering to hear someone say that about you, especially given the quality of players out there at the moment and the calibre of some of those who have said it. [LNB]"I try not to read too much into it, but if people say that about you it reflects well on the team. You can only look a good player if you have good players around you. [LNB]"It's great to have that level of respect, but the most satisfying thing is always winning trophies. If we win the title, it will rank alongside Istanbul as one of the greatest achievements in our history. None of us will ever give up trying and we still believe we can do it. [LNB]"I've said I'd swap every other medal I could win for the rest of my career to win the league, and I mean that."[LNB]Kuyt & Agger dealsLiverpool can close the gap on United to a point against Aston Villa on Sunday, and Benitez has been busy trying to tie down some of his key players.[LNB]After penning a new deal at Anfield, the Reds tactician expects his players to follow suit and the Spaniard confirmed duo Dirk Kuyt and Daniel Agger have held talks.[LNB]"I had a conversation yesterday with Kuyt and it was very positive," the Reds boss told The Daily Star Sunday. "I have the confidence that he will stay because he wants to stay.[LNB]"My talks with Agger have been very positive, too. He knows my ideas. He knows that if he's fit he will have the same chances as the others."[LNB]See Gerrard and Liverpool in action this afternoon against Villa at Anfield exclusively live on Sky Sports 1 and HD 1, coverage starting from 3:30pm.[LNB]
