Gerrard blasts Liverpool's botched title bid but insists he will fight to the end

Anguish: Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard[LNB]Steven Gerrard has admitted he finds Liverpool's inability to challenge for the Premier League title deeply frustrating but has vowed to fight to the last to secure the trophy he most desires before his playing days are over.[LNB]The Reds began the season with high hopes that they could go one better than last year and beat rivals Manchester United to the league championship. [LNB]But Rafa Benitez's men have endured a miserable campaign so far, currently languishing in seventh place, 12 points behind leaders Chelsea and facing a fight to qualify for next season's Champions League with rapidly improving Tottenham, Manchester City and Aston Villa, let alone pushing for title glory.[LNB]And Gerrard cannot hide his disappointment that Liverpool are struggling so badly in their quest to win a first league championship since 1990. He told The Mirror: 'It's frustrating to be where we are in the league now because thiswas meant to be the year where we were going to be right up there allthe way through.[LNB]'It would mean everything to win it. It'sfrustrating not to have it already and I've come close on a couple ofoccasions. [LNB] 'I will continue to fight for the Premier League from now until Istop playing. Hopefully I can add it to my collection because it wouldround a fantastic career off.
