Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of Liverpool's Spain international Luis Garcia as the Reds' big-money capture of Fernando Torres comes towards a conclusion.
Atletico, who finished seventh in last season's Primera Liga, have snapped up the 29-year-old on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
"Luis Garcia returns to Atletico and will be presented on Tuesday at 13.30 hours," read a statement from the Spanish club.
"Atletico have reached an agreement with Liverpool to transfer Luis Garcia, who has agreed to a three-year contract.
"Once the player completes his medical, he will be presented to the media."
Garcia, who has not played since damaging his anterior cruciate knee ligament in January, joined the Reds from Barcelona in 2004 and scored 30 times in 119 appearances in all competitions.
The Barcelona-born forward previously spent one season with Atletico Madrid.
Garcia's move paves the way for Liverpool to seal the signing of Torres. The 23-year-old has reportedly flown to Anfield to finalise the deal.
