Fowler eyes Liverpool job

Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has admitted he would love to manage his old club one day. The 34-year-old is currently preparing for the new Australian A-League season after joining North Queensland Fury as their marquee signing. But he is already thinking about what he might do when he hangs up his boots and is considering management. "Anyone who says he wouldn't want to manage Liverpool is probably lying," Fowler said in an interview with SNTV. "Liverpool is a massive, massive club and anyone would want to do that." "I always said I would pack in young and take a break and all that. "If you're not playing, the nearest thing to being around a football club is being a coach and manager. The older I've got I've looked into that more and more, so I probably will go down that route anyway." Disappointing Liverpool mounted a strong challenge for the Premier League title in 2008/9 before finishing four points behind Manchester United. Fowler admits it was a disappointing outcome for him but has backed Rafa Benitez's men to go one better next season. "Liverpool lost some silly points last year," Fowler said. "The likes of Man United, they never drew them games, they went on to win them. Then you go on to win the league. So, in the end, it ends up four points. "If you can get them draws into wins... I think next year we could be sorted and have Liverpool as champions."
