Former Liverpool boss calls it a day

Gerard Houllier has admitted that his football management days are over. The former Liverpool boss was forced to stand down at Aston Villa in April after suffering a recurrence of his heart problems and has decided that it wouldn't be in his best interests to return to the game. "I've got to admit the fact that, probably, I won't go back into management," he said. "I'm practically 85 per cent fit. I'm still getting there. I need maybe a couple of months. "Obviously, the profession that I used to have was not the best to keep in good health because of what I have." Gerard Houllier profile
