Fernando Torres vs Thailand FERNANDO TORRES admits the greater spending power of Liverpool's Premier League rivals is a real threat to the Reds' hopes of silverware. The Spanish striker has yet to get his hands on a trophy since he made the switch from Atletico Madrid in a £20million deal two years ago. Torres is desperate to put that right but with boss Rafa Benitez forced to balance the books with his transfer dealings this summer the 25-year-old is under no illusions. 'I think we are close to getting a trophy but it's very difficult,' Torres said. 'In football at the moment unfortunately money is really important. 'Clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have a lot of money to spend on good players. 'That's not the way at Liverpool so we have to try to improve. 'If we are going to get the opportunity to win a trophy we have to do things better than ever. We are ready for the challenge.' Torres, who helped Spain thrash Belgium 5-0 on Saturday, insists he is loving life on Merseyside.
