Sir Alex Ferguson is happy for Rafael Benitez to keep aiming his verbal volleys at Manchester United because he trusts his players to avoid them.   [LNB]Benitez has launched a series of scathing attacks on Ferguson since the turn of the year, the latest being a claim in Spain that the United manager is fearful of Liverpool because he knows they are a better side than his own.[LNB] Confident: Sir Alex Ferguson brushed off Rafa Benitez's comments[LNB]It seemed like a strange comment in a week when United opened a three point lead at the Premier League summit, although it did maintain a feud Ferguson continued last week when he claimed Benitez had behaved with contempt towards Sam Allardyce for his reaction at a goal against Blackburn at Anfield recently.[LNB]Mind games: Rafa Benitez[LNB]But Ferguson has no wish to silence Benitez. He prefers to let his team do the talking. And at the moment they are the ones shouting loudest.   [LNB]'He is definitely saying a lot,' said Ferguson of Benitez's jibes. 'But I am happy for him to carry on with it.[LNB]'I have to trust my players. I know they are good enough. I have trusted them for years now. That is why I have picked them.[LNB]'They are a good bunch of lads and we will just carry on the way we always have.'[LNB]Benitez yesterday reignited his war of words with Ferguson by claiming his Liverpool team is better than United.[LNB]'I'm not having a battle of words with Alex Ferguson, but I believethat he can see that we are the better side, and that we are very closeto United,' he said.[LNB] 'He has been accustomed to playing these types of mind games for many  years. Nobody has ever said anything against him, or stood up to him, as he has a  very good team that can win trophies. It seems like he has a licence to do these sorts of things.'[LNB]Meanwhile, Benitez today insisted he is confident his side will push their north-west neighbours right to the end of the season despite the 4-4 draw with Arsenal in midweek.[LNB]'Clearly it was difficult before and now it will be more difficult but we will keep going,' he said. 'We have confidence we can win our games and United will make a mistake so we have to be ready and hopefully we will see a mistake and it will be very close.'It is football and you never know what can happen. If we win and United) cannot then again we will be talking about the title race. It is important to keep going and keep the belief.'[LNB] Fergie declares war on Rafa!
