[LNB]The Manchester United star helped his side to a 2-1 victory over their arch rivals at Old Trafford that propelled them back to the top of the Barclays Premier League. It's always nice to get a result against Liverpool, especially after the last few games against them.' [LNB]United didn't have it easy against Liverpool on Sunday and it required goals from Wayne Rooney and Park Ji-sung to cancel out Fernando Torres's early header.[LNB]Controversy: Javier Mascherano brings down Antonio Valencia for United's penalty[LNB]Ferdinand added: 'We've been defending very well of late so to concede a goal after five minutes in such a big game was disappointing. [LNB]'But after the first goal I thought we got to grips with Liverpool and stopped the supply to Torres. The way we came back, picked ourselves up and took the game to Liverpool, speaks volumes of the talent we have in our squad.' [LNB]Ferdinand was also adamant that Javier Mascherano should have been sent off for his foul on Antonio Valencia that led to United's first-half penalty, from which Rooney netted the rebound. [LNB]He said: 'Regardless of whether or not it was inside or outside the box, I think it should have been a red card. [LNB] 'I think he got off lightly. Antonio Valencia was through on goal and I don't think anybody was going to get back to stop him shooting. For me, that's a red card.' [LNB] Winner: Park Ji-sung wheels away after his decisive goal on the hour[LNB] [LNB]And Ferdinand reserved special praise for Park, who stooped to convert adiving header to seal the points. [LNB]'Ji has been phenomenal recently,' he added. 'He's a player who's probably appreciated a bit more by his team-mates than some of the pundits and the media.[LNB] 'Now, however, I think people are starting to see what a talented player he is. Maybe that's only because he's scoring goals, but we've always appreciated him. He's a top man and a top player.'[LNB] One giant leap for Manchester United: Advantage Fergie in title race but Rooney limps awayMan United 2 Liverpool 1: Unsung hero Park upstages missing man GerrardMartin Samuel: Some sinking facts for Rafa on another bad day for LiverpoolJamie Redknapp's weekend watch: Stop messing with Gerrard, RafaMANCHESTER UNITED FC
