Fans respond to Liverpool sale news
We asked our Twitter and Facebook followers what they think of the news that Liverpool have agreed the sale to Boston Red Sox owners, New England Sports Ventures. Here's what you had to say... @TheeMrWillis - can't be worse than our current owners who since taking over have destroyed our club Lawrence McNeela - They'd be an improvement and the debt would be settled but shouldnt we be aiming a little higher, to somebody with genuine cash so we can start competing, because as things stand we'll be battling with Spurs and Villa and maybe Neverton for 5th place; Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and City will have the top 4 places tied up for the foreseeable future. While we're at it, losing Woy would be an improvement but O'Neill is not the man to lead Liverpool. @sw1tchblade - Great news, just hope this lot don't borrow all the money to buy the club! Jackie King - If it frees up money 2 improve the club then I'm all for it, I hav been a LFC supporter for 36yrs and never known them 2 play so badly @WeiHongCho - have mixed feelings about the takeover.. glad that Hicks & Gillett are gone but its another American owner. Once bitten twice shy Jeff Hancock - Looking at how they have turned the Red Sox round and the fact that they have a good relationship with the fans paints a completely different picture to what those fuckers Gillet and Hicks have doine here. However it looks like Hicks is going to hang on for dear life to get his 'profit' so we will see how much commitment these guys have got if they are in for the long haul fight that Hicks will try to give them. In the meantime though hopefully this news will help pick the squad up and give us some positive's to feed off for a change and we will hopefully see a change of fortune on the pitch. @derekmyoung - There will be no stopping @JoeNBC now Carl Stott - love it anything that pays off the debt and allows our revenues to be use on the squad rather than the debt is good. according to ayres were one of the most profitable clubs in the premier league just most of it goes on debt :( @twealm - I hope that NESV would be better than H&G, but I still have doubts (they are also yankees) Ray Turgoose - Red sox and red men. It must b in his blood like ours. Go for it. Bring back the glory around the fields of anfield road. @johnisdonefor - im a big redsox/lfc fan. I love it, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.
