Jamie Carragher in action for England 300[LNB]Defender Jamie Carragher's England u-turn has been lambasted by former Arsenal winger Perry Groves.[LNB]Groves likened the Liverpool vice-captain to an amateur footballer refusing to play in bad weather on a Sunday morning but who was happy to turn out when the club reached a cup final.[LNB]The ex-Gunner said when Carragher announced his international retirement three years ago that should have ended his England career.[LNB]'If someone says they don't want to play for their country any more then that is it,' Groves said.[LNB]'Playing for your country is the biggest honour you can bestow on anyone.[LNB]'There are players who would give their right arm just to be called into an England squad.[LNB]'I thought he was wrong at the time.[LNB]'Jamie Carragher thought he was too good to fly around Europe and sit on the bench in the qualification period but could then come back when they got to the World Cup.[LNB]'You can compare it to a Sunday footballer who says he can't be bothered to get up for a game in the morning because it is throwing it down with rain but if you get to a cup final he'll be there'.'
