Everton star Heitinga admits Red rivals Kuyt and Babel convinced him to sign

John Heitinga was talked into accepting a £6m move to Everton from Atletico Madrid by Liverpool pair Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel.

The Holland defender explained: 'At first, the clubs agreed a fee, but I could not agree personal terms. Then my agent called me to say all my wishes had been accepted.

'Dirk and Ryan both told me what a great place Liverpool would be for me. I always felt the game in England would suit my style.'
