AROUND about this time of year I like to indulge myself - intellectually as well as alcoholically - and spark a few arguments in the process.[LNB]It's easy enough. Just pick a Merseyside team of the year, based solely on performances in the calendar year just gone, oh, and as if that isn't enough, call it Ever-Pool![LNB]'Since when has the mixture of Liverpool and Everton teams been called Everpool. Ever since I can remember a mixture of both teams has been Liverton,' ranted one reader. 'Has it anything to do with your obvious bias towards Everton that you try and put Everton first?'[LNB]Absolutely not. Just the fact that E comes before L in the alphabet, and the name has a pleasing four letter split.[LNB](And if you attended this year's Christmas panto at The Empire, that's the same phrase used by the half Everton shirt half Liverpool shirt wearing character who was 'playing it safe.'[LNB]I don't think I've played it safe - we've got a 6/5 Everton split for the first time in several years for a start - so read on and let me know what you think.
