Essien determined to make up for Moscow and lead Chelsea to glory

Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has revealed his determination to win the Champions League after coming so close last season. The Ghana international played the full 120 minutes in Moscow in last year's final before Chelsea were beaten by Manchester United on penalties. And Essien admits he would love to go one better than last season and lift the famous old trophy at next month's final in Rome. 'With The Premiership, we just have to win and see what happens but, like every member of the squad, I want to win the Champions League especially after how close we were last season,' Essien told Kick Off Ghana. Chelsea travel to Liverpool tomorrow (Wednesday) night as the two clubs meet in the Champions League for the fifth season in a row and Essien highlighted the importance of scoring in the red hot Anfield atmosphere. 'Some say the fixture is becoming boring because we have had to play Liverpool every season for some time now, but that is the way it goes and we must accept it. 'As the away team, if we score at Anfield, we give ourselves a great chance of doing well.'
