Dossena glad for goals

Andrea Dossena admits his recent success in front of goal has handed him a welcome confidence boost. The Liverpool full-back has been on target in each of the Reds' last two games, breaching the formidable defences of Real Madrid and Manchester United. Having initially struggled to adapt to life in England following a summer switch from Udinese, the Italy international appears to have finally found his feet. He agrees, revealing his return to form has helped to erase the memories of a difficult period in his career. "It made me very happy, of course," Dossena told Uefa's official website. "It has been a tough fight to get into this team but if you work hard every day and don't give up, even in bad times, you get these moments that make it worthwhile." Dossena believes Rafa Benitez's decision to convert him into a left-back was partially responsible for his inconsistent beginnings at Anfield, but insists he has now grown accustomed to the position. "Compared to last season, I have changed position - I have gone back 20 metres," he said. "This change and adapting to English football gave me some difficulties to start with but, with the help of a great coach like Rafael Benitez, I'm starting to understand how to play in the team. You adapt step by step."
