Dirk Kuyt: Liverpool FC can still salvage season after Europa League defeat

DIRK KUYT has backed Liverpool to salvage their European campaign and rediscover their scoring touch as they keep the season alive.[LNB]The Reds' hopes of progressing in the Europa League are hanging in the balance after Eden Hazard's late free-kick gave Lille a 1-0 first leg lead.[LNB]It was the 15th time in all competitions that Rafa Benitez's men have been beaten since August and they simply cannot afford to suffer any more if they are going to secure a top four finish or progress in Europe.[LNB]Kuyt, though, is confident Liverpool can retrieve the situation, as he saw enough signs last night in France to suggest they will create plenty of chances at Anfield.[LNB]With the home crowd also likely to be a key factor, the Dutch international feels Liverpool will be able to overpower Lille in six days' time.[LNB]'If you see the quality in this team, we should really beat them with more than one goal,' said Kuyt. 'Obviously 1-0 is not a great score for us but this is what has happened.[LNB]'We have got to look forward. We can't think how difficult it will be. We know what happened to Real Madrid. We all watched that game and we have to be focused.[LNB]'I'm sure it will be a good night at Anfield and I think we've got a good chance to go through. We are disappointed but we are capable of turning it around.[LNB]'Before Wigan, we had done well and kept many clean sheets. The only defeat we had suffered in the league was at Arsenal and it was getting better and better.[LNB]'Monday was just an off-day. We were all very disappointed, most of all with ourselves. We have got to change that. We put a lot of effort in and created some chances.'
