Stoke City are on the verge of securing the loan services of Liverpool's out-of-favour midfielder Salif Diao.
The Senegal international is fed up with his lack of first-team opportunities under Reds boss Rafa Benitez and has confirmed that, should the Potters firm up their initial interest, then he would jump at the chance of a move to the Britannia Stadium.
Diao told Sky Sports: "I need to be playing regular, competitive football and Stoke will give me that chance.
"The Championship is tough, but I need that to get my sharpness back."
The 29-year-old has started only 19 Premiership games during more than four years at Anfield since his £5million transfer from Sedan.
He has spent time on loan at Birmingham City and Portsmouth in the last two years.
