Martin Jol is planning on using Clint Dempsey as a part of a swap to take Andy Carroll from Anfield to Craven Cottage from under the noses of London rivals West Ham.

Both clubs are up hoping to fend off interest from AC Milan who are also bidding to take the 23-year-old to the San Siro on loan.

All 3must wait until the forward to return from holiday and for him to hold talks over his future with manager Brendan Rogers.

Fulham believe they hold the upper hand though, with the Reds registering their interest in Dempsey who scored 23 goals in all competitions last season.

Carroll has said he wants an Anfield stay but the new boss has doubts weather he can adapt to the new style of football being introduced at Anfield.
