Dempsey or Ramirez could be a Liverpool player this weekend

Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers spoke today in a press conferance that previewed a North America tour and announced that he expected his first signing to me made by the end of the week.

"We have only made three or four enquiries about players and hopefully can close out one deal this week which will be a real exciting one for the club."

Is Rogers talking about Fulham star Clint Dempsey? who has been praised by the owners before, or Bologna ace Gaston Ramirez? who has been on the Anfield radar since January.

The People are reporting that a bid of £6million is being prepared for the American who has a year left on his current deal at Craven Cottage and it also states that Dempsey is keen on moving north to Anfield.

The other side of the story comes from Twitter and that two respected Uraguayan journalists have confirmed that Ramirez will be a Liverpool player by the weekend (see image proof below)

a quick translation via google offers these:

Rodrigo Romano: For the info I have on the weekend will close the transfer of Gaston Ramirez at Liverpool for 20 million Euros ‪ # LFC ‬ @ LFC

Edward Pinon: @AlvaroLevrero from England tells me that the pass of Gaston Ramirez is fully Liverpool management. 16 million pounds.

Either signing would be a great start to the transfer window for the Reds who have struggled for both goals and creativity during the last campaign and both players would bring something new to Anfield.

Dempsey adds marketing value to the Reds in America as well as a source of goals considering he bagged 23 in a all competitions last season, where as Ramirez brings youth (being only 21) and creativity and is also another Uraguayan link in the Liverpool setup.
