David Prentice: Jamie Carragher's dad highlights Liverpool FC press attacks

JAMIE CARRAGHER'S dad articulated it bluntly, but best. At around 3.45pm last Sunday Carragher senior popped his head into the Anfield press room and enquired: 'What are you going to put in your papers now?' (slightly edited version)[LNB]The outburst was, presumably, directed at a London based press corps who had issued the last rites to Rafael Benitez's Liverpool reign just a few hours earlier.[LNB]'At 3.45 today Rafa's Kop reign could finally go . . . POP!' read one headline.[LNB]Then there was: 'Benitez on the brink' 'Switch off the lights as you leave, StevieG', 'Torres Time Bomb. Kop failure can drive him out' and 'Mas Exodus. Javier not interested in new deal.'[LNB]The day before had been pretty much the same.[LNB]But there was one shaft of sunshine for Reds fans if you looked hard enough - although even that was buried under 'Owen steeled for Anfield venom.'[LNB]The number crunchers at The Times worked out that Rafael Benitez would be celebrating his 200th Premier League game in charge at Anfield against Manchester United.
