Dave Prentice: Kenny Dalglish can do miracles but the impossible might take a bit longer

MIRACLES he can do - the impossible might take a little longer. By force of his mere presence in the Old Trafford dug-out yesterday, living legend Kenny Dalglish transformed a club which had begun to tear itself apart with in-fighting and despair at an ineffectual leader, into one which could go to Manchester United daring to dream.[LNB]But beating the Premier League's only unbeaten side, with just 10 men, will have to wait for another day.[LNB]Dalglish's last title-winning team had David Batty and Tim Sherwood scraping shinbones and clattering calves with every airborne tackle.[LNB]In 2011, if both feet leave the floor a tackler is in serious danger of leaving the pitch permanently.[LNB] And when Steven Gerrard fell foul of that latest refereeing guideline for a two-footed tackle which caught Michael Carrick - the greatest Liverpool comeback since Istanbul was put on ice.[LNB]Predictably Dalglish didn't take the decision well.[LNB]TV cameras captured him bickering in the tunnel with Howard Webb. And while that response might not find favour with Keith Hackett, it was just the kind of irritated reaction Reds fans have wanted to see from their manager all season.[LNB]Roy Hodgson came to Old Trafford in September pouring oil on troubled waters. Dalglish preferred petrol.[LNB]Perhaps that vituperative response was a reason why United weren't awarded another penalty when Martin Kelly collided with Hernandez early in the second half. It would have been a soft award, but no softer than the one which allowed Ryan Giggs to drive United into round four.
