Daniel Agger: Liverpool FC must rediscover ruthless streak

Daniel Agger DANIEL AGGER today called for Liverpool to rediscover their killer instinct to prevent them suffering any more heartbreak this season. The Reds find themselves on the brink of elimination from the Champions League after two games against Lyon resulted in them shipping two hugely damaging late goals. Having bossed possession for much of Wednesday's game in France, as well as creating a number of good opportunities, Agger knows three points where there to be taken. It has, though, been a similar story in the Premier League, never more so than at Fulham last Saturday, when Liverpool had 73 per cent of the ball yet still ended up losing 3-1. But Agger, who passed a late fitness test to figure at the Stade Gerland, is not looking to make excuses and nor is he looking for sympathy. All he wants to see is Rafa Benitez's side get that ruthless streak back and feels there is no better time to show it than against Birmingham City on Monday night. 'You get what you deserve in football and you have to look at closing the game down otherwise you get punished in the way we did in Lyon,' said Agger. 'Physically I feel okay. I wanted to play and I do all I can to play in every match, as all the lads do here but sometimes it's not going to happen.
