Daniel Agger tells Roy Hodgson to play him or he'll quit Liverpool

Daniel Agger has added to Roy Hodgson's mounting problems by threatening to quit Liverpool if he does not command a regular first-team place.[LNB]The Denmark centre back returned to action in the New Year's Day win over Bolton following a three-month lay-off with a calf problem and will start alongside Martin Skrtel in Liverpool's Barclays Premier League game at Blackburn tonight.[LNB]But that has not stopped Agger - who has been linked with a move to Juventus - issuing a shock ultimatum, claiming he will be forced to consider his options if he does not become a permanent fixture in the side.[LNB] Play me or lose me: Agger says he expects to be starting games for Liverpool[LNB]'I still have three years left on my contract but the decision if Iplay or not, is not mine,' said Agger. 'If I don't play and I am freeof injuries then I have no reason to stay on. [LNB]'I know I have the level to play at this club. So if I am not goingto play and I have to sit out for an extended time then it is of coursenot interesting for me to stay.' [LNB]Rallying the troops: The last thing Roy Hodgson needs is another wantaway player[LNB]There has been intense speculation around Agger's future for most ofHodgson's reign, as the 26-year-old started the season out of positionat left back before he lost his place following the signing of PaulKonchesky.[LNB]Frustrated at how things were working out, Agger criticisedHodgson's style of play in a Danish television interview in Septemberbefore he was injured playing for Denmark in a Euro 2012 qualifieragainst Cyprus. [LNB]Wolfsburg's general manager Dieter Hoeness then claimed last weekthat the German side had turned down the chance to sign Agger,after he was given the impression that the Dane was being touted aroundEurope.[LNB]Hodgson swiftly denied that. He has said all along that he wants tokeep the defender. Given that he is under huge pressure fromLiverpool's American owners, Fenway Sports Group, the last thingHodgson needed before tonight's match were murmurings of discontent.[LNB]Former Hoffenheim boss Ralf Rangnick wants to replace Hodgson if heleaves Liverpool. Although Rangnick has not been approached by FSG andno meetings are planned, his agent, Oliver Mintzlaff, said: 'He wouldbe interested in Liverpool and it's possible he could manage there.'
