Crouch move talk denied
17 Oct 2007 - 16:28:26
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has once again insisted that out-of-favour striker Peter Crouch will not be leaving Anfield in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old England international has been linked with a switch to Manchester City after finding his first-team opportunities with the Reds limited this season following the summer arrivals of Fernando Torres and Andriy Voronin.
However, Benitez said: "People have been talking about Peter Crouch for two months, but he is our player and we don't want to sell him.
"He is a nice boy, a good professional, a good player.
"It is clear that this team now with four strikers creates more competition for places, but I don't have any problems because Crouch is a good player."
Crouch has been restricted to only one Premier League start this term although he has made two appearances from the substitute's bench.
The former Portsmouth, Aston Villa and Southampton forward scored 17 goals in 64 Premier League games in his first two seasons at Anfield.
