Crouch eyes title charge
03 Nov 2006 - 11:04:03
Liverpool striker Peter Crouch still thinks Rafa Benitez's side can challenge for the Premiership title despite their poor domestic form away from Anfield.
The Reds are 11 points behind current Premiership leaders Manchester United after only ten games of the campaign and have only taken one point from their five away league matches to date.
However, Tuesday's 3-0 Champions League win against Bordeaux guided the Merseysiders into the knockout stages of Europe's premier competition and Crouch is now determined to replicate that kind of form in the Premiership.
"Perhaps the victory over Bordeaux can be a turning point in the season," he told the club's official website.
"Hopefully we can go on a bit of a run. We've always felt we have the quality to win games, now it's a case of showing it.
"We've fallen behind a touch and got a lot of making up to do but we believe we can do it and hopefully we can go out and prove it.
"It's enjoyable at the moment as we're scoring goals and we're playing well. We've kept the same side in two games and played well in both of them but we have a big squad and I'm sure the manager will use it.
"We've certainly been in good form at home and got to take that form away from home. With the players we have, we're certainly capable of doing that.
"But you can do all the talking you want - you have to get results."
