Coyle set for reserves run-out
Burnley manager Owen Coyle will swap the touchline for the front line on Wednesday as he plays for the club's reserves at Liverpool.
The 43-year-old was still registered as a player as recently as November 2007 when he was in charge of Scottish First Division side St Johnstone.
He confirmed his retirement after agreeing to become Clarets boss, although he made a handful of appearances for the reserves last season, scoring a memorable goal against Accrington in April.
The international break means Burnley have a number of players away and so Coyle has taken the opportunity to lead the line and pass on valuable real-time experience to 19-year-old fellow striker Wes Fletcher.
First-team fringe players Christian Kalvenes, David Edgar and Richard Eckersley are also included for the clash at Prenton Park.
Former Leeds and Grimsby goalkeeper Jonathan Lund today signed a one-year contract with Burnley and the 20-year-old will make his debut in the game.
