Cole on his way?

Betting has been suspended on Joe Cole's next club as Liverpool become favourites to sign the former Chelsea midfielder. New Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has apparently been in talks with Cole although a reported offer of £4.5million a year is £700,000 short of the one made by West Ham. However, a move to Anfield would be more beneficial for Cole's career and the Reds are now the bookies favourites to sign the player within the next 48 hours. "I'm not a betting man so it doesn't even register with me that betting has been suspended," said Hodgson. "I know we have been connected with him and it is good to know that we are connected with players of that quality but I don't have anything further to report on the subject. "I haven't had any discussions with him. Managing director Christian Purslow is the man looking after the transfers, not me."
