Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri was named in the starting line-up for Saturday's Premier League clash against Liverpool even though Manchester City are reported to be close to signing the France star.
Nasri is keen to move to Eastlands after being offered a significant wage rise by big-spending City and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has hinted it would be hard to keep the player as he is out of contract at the end of the season.
An injury to Nasri could scupper the deal, but Wenger opted to risk him against Liverpool as Gervinho and Alex Song were both suspended, while England midfielder Jack Wilshere is injured.
