France striker Djibril Cisse has officially sealed his exit from Liverpool to join Marseille on a permanent basis.
The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at the Stade Velodrome and has now penned a five-year contract with Marseille, where he is joined by another former Reds star, Dutch midfielder Bolo Zenden.
Marseille president, Pape Diouf, told the club's official website: "I am happy because the Djibril Cisse affair had become a soap opera.
"We knew it would be difficult from the start. Djibril was behind us and said very early he wanted to continue with Marseille.
"We wanted to keep him, but I understand why Liverpool wanted to defend their financial interests. That made things drag on but we finally got there."
Cisse, 25, cost Liverpool £14million when he joined from Auxerre in the summer of 2004, but he fell out of favour under Rafa Benitez.
In total he scored 24 goals in 78 appearances for the Merseysiders.
