Alonso moved to the Bernabeu for around £30million in the summer and without him in the midfield holding role the Reds have slumped in both the Premier League and Champions League.
All by myself: Steven Gerrard (above left) is feeling lonely without his old midfield partner Xabi Alonso (below), who moved to Real Madrid this summer
Anfield skipper Gerrard admitted that Alonso's loss is hard to take as the Spain staris one of the world's best footballers, and that his absence has left him feelingisolated when playing for Rafa Benitez's side.
But Alonso has quashed any hope Gerrard may have held that they may be one day reunited at Liverpool.
Alonso said: 'I want to thank Stevie for his kind words but life goes on. It's logical I miss Liverpool. I lived there five years and saw what football means to the supporters.
'I've still got friends there. It was an unforgettable experience and I'll always have the club in my heart.
'But I'm so happy at Real Madrid and I hope to do some important things here.'
