Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam has dismissed claims he dived to win the free-kick which led to Steven Gerrard's goal against Manchester United at Anfield.[LNB]Adam went down just outside the box following a clash with United defender Rio Ferdinand and Gerrard slotted home the resulting kick. [LNB]Replays showed the contact was minimal, but proved Adam's claims that he was impeded by Ferdinand. [LNB] Flashpoint: Adam and Ferdinand clash in the match at Anfield[LNB]Adam said: 'Well, everyone has an opinion and I felt a touch. If I hadn't gone down I would have been clear through on goal so there must have been contact. That's the way I look at it.[LNB]'I felt contact when I went past Rio and that's the way it goes. I'm not that type of player. I'm not just going to go down easily.[LNB]'It was a foul and that is why the referee gave it and the goal was just different class. That is why Stevie is one of the best players in the world.'[LNB] Debatable? Ferdinand and Adam argue over the free-kick[LNB]Meanwhile Adam will return to former club Rangers on Tuesday with mixed feelings of his time in Glasgow.[LNB]The Reds play a friendly against the Scottish champions in Glasgow with the 25-year-old admitting his nine-year association with the Ibrox club had its fair share of ups and downs.[LNB]'(There were) ups and downs really. I had some great times there but also some hard times and that was with not playing, which was a difficult period,' said the Scotland international.[LNB]'That's the way it goes sometimes and football changes so much nowadays. I'm glad I started there and the coaches I had over the years helped me to progress to where I am today.[LNB]'But the friendly is certainly one I'm looking forward to because it's not very often you get the opportunity to go back and play against your former club.' Now prove it!
