Charlie Adam will cost Liverpool £14m, says Ian Holloway

Determined: captain Charlie Adam is keen on a move to Liverpool [LNB]Cold showers at Blackpool are a reminder of the chairman's stubborness, and manager Ian Holloway warned Charlie Adam has risked seeing a dream move to Liverpool disappear down the plug hole by handing in a transfer request. [LNB]Karl Oyston only paid out for a new boiler last week under pressure from Holloway and his players after the old one broke down on four occasions. [LNB]There was still no hot water in the showers on Monday, however, meaning Manchester United's millionaire players face an uncomfortable experience after tonight's game. [LNB]And with his hard-nosed chairman Oyston growing increasingly impatient with Liverpool's refusal to raise their £4million offer for Adam, Holloway has told the midfielder that trying to force through a move to Anfield could backfire. [LNB]Holloway said: 'A bid of £4m is not acceptable. Liverpool should have started with at least four times that offer. Put a one in front of it and it might be realistic. [LNB] Making his point: Ollie is furious with Liverpool's pursuit of Adam [LNB]'Damien Comolli (Liverpool's director of football strategy) rang my chairman, faffing about. Put up or shut up, it's as simple as that. [LNB]'If they don't make the right offer, my chairman will dig his heels in and I'll have one very unhappy player on my hands. He could quite literally keep him for 18 months. He is the most pig-headed, stubborn bloke I have met in my life.[LNB] 'If Darren Bent is £24m, the game has gone mad. Why should we say, "You can have our captain, go on take him. Oh, he has thrown his toys out of the pram. You can have him. Thanks a lot Liverpool".' [LNB]Holloway, who confirmed that Blackpool's players serenaded Adam with a chorus of You'll Never Walk Alone before Saturday's home defeat by Sunderland, has challenged Adam to prove Liverpool should raise their offer. [LNB]And there is no better team to do it against than United. He said: 'It's messing with Charlie's head and I don't blame him. I'm caught between the devil and the deep blue sea, between the chairman and Charlie. But if I tried to stop him playing against Manchester United he'd probably kill me.' [LNB]Blackpool and Manchester United will kick off at 7.30pm so broadcaster ESPN can try to draw in viewers before the second leg of Arsenal's Carling Cup semi-final against Ipswich gets underway on BBC2 at a more conventional 7.45. [LNB]An ESPN spokesman said: 'The kickoff for the game was discussed and agreed by the clubs, the league and the local authorities. ESPN did request an earlier kick-off to avoid a direct clash with the kick-off of other televised football.'[LNB]  Why didn't you attack Dalglish?
