Chairman explains Roy decision

Martin Broughton has explained why Roy Hodgson is the new Liverpool manager. The Reds interviewed plenty of people for the managers job before deciding on Hodgson. In yesterday's press conference Broughton told reporters exactly why Hodgson was the successful candidate. "You take the League Managers' Association's Manager of the Year - that shows the respect his peers have for him. It's a respect that's been earned not only over the last year, which was outstanding, but over a long period of time," said the chairman. "Roy brings precisely the sort of experience we were looking for. He's been around and dealt with lots of different international players. "He's English but he's cosmopolitan. He wasn't chosen because he was English - he was chosen because he was the best man for the job. "We need someone to steady the ship at this stage and I think Roy has got all of the talents we were looking for."
